Greetings my fellow readers!

Thank you for taking the time to join me and read my content, whether my blog or my books, but hopefully both. First, things first, I will introduce myself. I am B.A. Gomez, author, veteran and jerk of many trades. I prefer to use my initials for most things and now I use it in my writing. 

Anyway, I have been writing most of my life. Little snippets of poetry, one page short stories, a couple of essays, but never a full novel length book. Until now. In full honesty, I had never had the full drive or focus in my life to actively pursue my dreams of being a novelist. I enlisted in the Navy, did things I never imagined I would do and when I finally got out, I felt more broken than ever. I felt disillusioned and lost. I jumped from job to job, trying to find my place and purpose. Every time I thought I had found my way, a new obstacle presented itself. I was sinking lower and lower. Eventually I found a light at the end of the tunnel. I met my wife and slowly things got a little easier. Not life in general but a piece of me no longer felt missing. We have been together ten years now and I have her and our two amazing children. They keep me going through my darkest days. 

Fall of last year I had a severe emotional breakdown and spent a few days in a psychiatric hospital. All the years of avoidance, self-medicating and repression caught up to me. In that time, I was isolated and spent my days doing something I hadn't done in years. Sit down and just read for hours. I helped me center myself immensely. The rest of the year was still precarious and I eventually had another break just before summer of this year. Not as severe as previously but it wasn't pretty. 

Anyway, enough of the drama. I said all of that to show only what led me down this path and why I lean so heavily into the human side of my characters.

I spent the rest of this year focused on writing as a cathartic hobby and discovered my love of writing again. In that time, I have managed to write two full novels, a children's book and one novel rewrite. There is plenty more projects on the horizon!
